riscopre e rielabora alcuni home-movies
accostando le immagini di tre generazioni di una famiglia belga tra il
1931 e il 1997: se stesso, i suoi genitori, i suoi nonni. Un esercizio che
ha a che fare con un’eredità iconografica e spirituale. Le immagini ci
riportano all’infanzia e al gioco, ai viaggi, alle relazioni sociali, ai
balli. Personali e insieme collettive, le sequenze evocano la guerra, i
primi passi dell’uomo sulla luna, mostrandosi in molteplici variazioni:
l’ideale della perfetta felicità.
The author rediscovers and reworks family films through placing images of three generations (of a Belgian family between 1931 and 1997: himself, his parents and grand parents) next to each other. An exercise to deal with this iconographic and spiritual heritage. Images from the family´s heritage take us back to childhood and play, journeys, relationships, dancing. Personal and yet common, sequences evoke war, man´s first steps on the moon and show themselves in multiple variations: the ideal of perfect happiness.
